The project is the first semiconductor plant of Philips to showcase their “Factory 2000” concept, which aims to provide maximum flexibility and efficiency in manufacturing.
Guided by the Philips’ philosophy of “doing things better”, this semiconductor facility was designed and constructed to house the expansion and modernization of the production facilities of Philips Semiconductor Philippines, Inc. (PSPI), after its transfer from Las Piñas to an 8.8 hectare site in Cabuyao.
This large-scale production facility sits in a 7 hectare property owned by Monde MY San and housed with the Carmelray Industrial Park. Carmelray is a well-established PEZA-accredited zone located in Calamba, Laguna in the Philippines.
This project in Guiuan was IOM’s first Community Center & Evacuation Center designed together with RNFA. It is a 750 m2 two-storey reinforced concrete structure with structural steel roof framing. The building was designed to withstand winds of 320 kph and earthquake resistance to meet seismic zone 4.

Webforge, an Australian Steel Grating company, decided to put up a plant that would principally supply the local market. The project involves the construction of a 4,402 square meters building which is divided into the production area (3,914 square meters) and the two-storey air conditioned office space (592 square meters) on an 8,945 square meters lot.
The architectural design of the production building features a solid wall composed of louver blocks at the bottom portion, and glass; and roofing that allowed skylight. The louver blocks provide sufficient ventilation while the skylight and the glass walls provide natural lighting thus significantly lessening the need for electrical lighting power. The building’s construction covered a period of eight months (January 1997 – August 1997).
RNFA provided project management including total engineering and architectural design, as well as, construction management services. Working with a budget of $2.52M, RNFA was able to complete the project approximately $130,000 under budget.
